Modu Viewer Terms of Use
Effective date Previous version
These terms set out the conditions for using the Modu Viewer app (the “App”) provided by Fastutle (“we” or “us”). By downloading or using the App you agree to these terms. The terms of the store you downloaded the App from (App Store, Google Play) also apply.
1. The service
- The App is a viewer app that opens comic books (ZIP, CBZ, RAR, CBR, 7z), PDFs and text and document files on your device. It offers library organisation, read-aloud, the optional Natural voice, importing files from Google Drive, and data export and import (backup).
- You can use the App without signing up. We do not run any server that receives or stores your files; your files are processed on your device.
- The features available to you may differ by device, operating system and app version.
2. Use of the App and prohibited conduct
- We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the App for your personal use in accordance with these terms.
- You must not:
- use the App in a way that violates the law;
- use the App to unlawfully copy or distribute files that infringe copyright or other rights of others;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except where the law allows it;
- circumvent the App’s security features, or interfere with the normal operation of the App or the services it connects to;
- copy or modify the App to distribute or sell it;
- use the App in a way that violates the terms of third-party services such as Google Drive.
- If your prohibited conduct causes damage to us or to others, you may be liable for it under the law.
3. Intellectual property
- The rights in the App’s software, design, name, logo and text belong to us or to their rightful owners. These terms give you the right to use the App; they do not transfer those rights to you.
- Open-source components included in the App are governed by their own licences. The list and the full licence texts are available in the App and on the open-source licences page of this site.
4. Your content
- The files you import into the App (comic books, PDFs, documents and so on) and the backup files the App creates are yours, and you are responsible for their contents and for how you use them. You must have the right to view and use the files you import.
- We do not receive or view your files (except for the English words sent by natural reading and the error logs you send yourself, as described in the Privacy Policy), and we do not review or vouch for their contents.
- Imported files are stored as copies on your device. Deleting the App, or deleting a book from the library, also deletes that copy and its reading position and related data. We recommend that you keep the originals of important files and your backup files separately.
5. Third-party services
- The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its provider’s terms and privacy policy.
- Google Drive (optional): downloads the files you pick to your device. Your use of your Google account and Drive is subject to the Google Terms of Service.
- Google Firebase: app usage statistics and crash reports
- Hugging Face (optional): downloading the Natural voice model
- Your device’s text-to-speech (TTS) engine: read-aloud
- App Store, Google Play: distribution and updates of the App
- We do not operate these third-party services. If a service changes or stops, the App features that rely on it may not work.
- How the App handles information is described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Natural Voice (AI speech model)
The English text of this section governs; the Korean text is a reference translation. This is an exception to the note at the end of this page: for this section (Natural Voice) only, the English text below prevails over the Korean version of these terms.
